Mission
The mission of the West Virginia Board of Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology is to safeguard the public health by assuring and maintaining the professional qualifications of speech-language pathologists and audiologists and of speech-language and Audiology assistants in the state.

Amended Rules 2008 Legislation Effective April 1, 2008

  1. Continuing education. This rule was amended to clarify what activities the Board deems acceptable. It also changed the number of continuing education hours required for dual licensees.  Please see "UPDATE" link for more details.

  2. A "Retired License" status has been added. Several requests have been made for this license due to licensees with health matters or those who choose to be at home during child rearing years. This amendment will allow the licensee to keep their initial license number but the fees are lower and the amount of continuing education required is only five (5) hours per year, which is less of a hardship.

  3. Fees. The Board has raised the fees in looking at a long-range effect that will cover rising operational cost of the Board. Fees have not been raised since 2002. The fees will include: Please go to "UPDATE" link for fee schedule.
    A. Initial fees were raised by $50.00 per applicant. (This is for first time applicants). This also includes a $50.00 increase for Dual license.
    B. Renewal fees were raised $25.00 per applicant.
    C. Charging a registration fee of $50.00 for Assistant for initial registration and $30.00 per year to renew.

  4. A Fee Schedule for Administrative Cost. These fees are in line with other Boards charges for such things as copies, duplicate license, wall certificates, mailing list, etc.
