Greetings:
Another license renewal has passed and I must say it was very successful. Thank you to everyone who participated and made it such a success. Our goal was to have 75% of licensees to renewal on line by 2012. Guess what---80% renewed online in 2008!! That is unbelievable. Boards larger than ours have only experienced 25-50%.

Thought you might be interested in these statistics....2009-2010

Renewed Speech-Language Pathologists..........  593
Renewed Audiologists............................................   122
Renewed Dual Licensed.............................................   5

Total Renewals..............................................720
27 people hold a provisional license.

12 Speech Pathologists used our new "Retired License" status.

*************

There were 88 licensees who paid either a late fee or reinstatement fee. This is actually par for the course, however, it would certainly be more pleasant for all parties concerned if you would simply apply early enough to avoid these situations. I can almost guarantee those of you who apply late (late meaning December) will encounter problems.
Continuing education is the main set back.  Licensees either do not have the correct, the hours are not board approved, they do not have proof of attendance or ASHA has not yet recorded them to the registry.  All of this takes time and usually ends up in late fees.

Anytime you have questions we welcome your calls, if we do not know the answer, we will get back to you.

I will be attending the West Virginia Speech and Hearing Association Convention, April 23, 2009. There will be a Board meeting that evening at 6:30. The meeting room will be posted in the lobby. Stop by, introduce yourself and express any concerns you may have. Hope to see you there.

Respectfully,
Vicki Mathess
