The Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology Interstate Compact (ASLP-IC) allows eligible licensed audiologists and speech-language pathologists an alternative method for providing services in other member states. Requirements:

  • A full valid, unencumbered audiology or speech-language pathology license
  • Criminal background check

You are not eligible for compact privileges if:

  • You hold a license that requires supervision
  • Have not completed a criminal background check
  • Hold a license that is encumbered

What is a compact?

ASLP-IC is an interstate compact, which is an agreement between states to enact legislation and enter into a contract for a specific, limited purpose or address a particular policy issue.


The Audiology & Speech-Language Pathology Interstate Compact (ASLP-IC) facilitates the interstate practice of audiology and speech-language pathology while maintaining public protection.

ASLP-IC is an interstate compact, which is a contractual, legislatively enacted agreement between states for a specific, limited purpose or to address a particular policy issue.

  • Improves continuity of care when clients, patients, and students relocate/travel
  • Improves portability for military members/spouses
  • Improves access to audiology and speech-language pathology providers
  • Increases choice of audiology and speech-language pathology providers
  • Increases access to client, patient, and student care
  • Facilitates alternate delivery methods (Telehealth)
  • Simplifies/speeds up the current process
  • Addresses portability & barriers to access
  • Practice of audiology and speech-language pathology occurs in the state where the patient/client is located at the time of the patient/client encounter
